Apple Pie Dog Biscuits Recipe

When the temperature drops I crave hot, comfy meals to make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Why not give our four legged friends a winter warmer too with this oh so yummy Apple Pie made with a Beau's Biscuits favourite, 'dem Bones Bake Mix.

To make the apple stew, you will need:

  • 1 medium sized apple (we prefer pink lady or fuji) (cored and chopped)
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1 heaped tablespoon of honey
Simmer for 10 minutes or until the apple has softened. Let cool and lightly mash.

To make the biscuit dough, you will need:
  • 250g of Beau's Biscuits 'dem Bones mix (which also has delicious turmeric and ceylon cinnamon – perfect combination for Apple Pie!)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of milk or water
  1. Add the egg and milk/water gradually into the biscuit mix. Mix and knead the dough.
  2. Cut the dough to quarters, then cut one dough quarter to halves and add each to the other two quarters. Keep the small one for decoration.
  3. Roll out the 2 larger doughs separately to about 4–5mm in thickness.
  4. Place stewed apple to the rolled out dough and cover with the other rolled out dough.
  5. Roll out the small dough to make the strip decoration. Assemble strips into cross-hatching lines.
  6. Cut assembled dough in your desired shape and place on a tray lined with baking paper.
  7. Bake in a 170C oven for 20–25 minutes. We like the biscuits to be slightly chewy, but if you are after crunchier biscuits, bake on a lower temperature for longer.
  8. Let cool before serving.
Serving suggestion
Serve with a dollop of natural/greek yoghurt topped with fresh sliced apple and blueberries or your dog's favourite fruit.
